Colleges fail to keep up with technology as tuition skyrockets

When I logged into IUN's network, Firefox 5.0 showed up. At home, I'm running Firefox 7.0.

Half of all college students used mobile gear to get on the Internet every day last year, compared with 10 percent of students in 2008, according to Educause, the educational-technology consortium.

How many mobile college level apps are there? Shouldn't there be an app for every undergraduate class (built on Android and iPhone platforms)? And why not have computer engineerng/programming students build those apps?

Your public library probably offers databases with the full text of thousands of magazine and newspaper articles, genealogical information, legal forms, and more. In some cases, these can be accessed from your home computer even when the library is closed. Many libraries also offer services where you can "ask a librarian" or get homework assistance using Instant Messaging, email, and other online tools.
