I re-did my home entertainment system to save some money (using only high speed Internet and antenna TV). I noticed the green lights on my modem, wireless router, and powered antenna "dancing" while everything else is off.
I never heard about people turning off these devices which are designed to be "always on". It would be easy to do -- simply turn off your surge protector/power strip before bed.
While they draw about 15 watts, think of how many households have these devices?
Not a peep from the conservationists. No discussion on the Net. No public service announcements from government.
